Anwar ul Haq Kakar, the Prime Minister of the interim government that will lead the country until the general elections in Pakistan, took the oath of office. Pakistan President Arif Alvi presided over Kakar's swearing-in ceremony. The swearing-in ceremony at the presidential building was opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran, according to national media sources.

At the ceremony, Kakar repeated the text of the oath read by Alvi. Kakar, the 8th interim Prime Minister of Pakistan, was thus inaugurated.

Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also present at the ceremony.

In the confidence vote held in the Pakistani Parliament on April 10, 2022, Imran Khan's government had fallen with 174 "no" votes.

Shahbaz Sharif, the brother of Nawaz Sharif, who served as prime minister for 3 terms in the country, was elected Prime Minister on April 11, 2022, with the support of the absolute majority with 174 votes in the parliamentary vote.
