Floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh are worsening, the death toll from floods and landslides has reached 72, according to the state Prime Minister's Office.
Around 700 roads, including three highways, were closed. There was also extensive damage to electricity and water supplies.
"Our state is going through a difficult time and in recent days we have received wounds that will not heal for a long time. But we are with the people and we will provide them with all possible help," Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said in a statement.
Floods and landslides destroyed at least 8 houses in the Krishna Nagar area of the state capital Shimla.
In Mandi district, two houses collapsed due to a landslide.
While 3 single-story houses in different parts of Mandi also collapsed, the moments of terror were captured on amateur cameras.
