Armenia's security dependence on Russia was a strategic mistake, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian said.
Pashinian made statements about his country's defeat in the second Karabakh War. He accused Russia of failing to protect Armenia against Azerbaijan in the Karabakh War.
"Armenia's security was largely dependent on Russia, including the supply of weapons and ammunition," the Armenian Prime Minister said.
"But today we see that Russia needs arms and ammunition for the war in Ukraine. In this situation, it is understandable that Russia cannot meet Armenia's security needs even if it wants to. This example should show us that Armenia's security dependence on Russia is a strategic mistake," he added.
Pashinian said that Armenia is trying to diversify its security preparations and referred to its ties with the European Union (EU) and the United States (US) and its efforts to establish closer relations with other countries in the region.
Moscow, which mediates the tensions between Yerevan and Baku, has not yet responded to Pashinian's statements.
