A terrible attack occurred in the US state of Maine. An unidentified suspect in the city of Leviston opened fire on people in 3 separate areas. As a result of the attack, 22 people lost their lives and nearly 60 people were injured.

SCHOOLS CANCELED

Auburn Mayor Jason Levesque stated that schools were canceled due to the incident and authorities were searching for the suspect of the shooting in Lewiston.

In addition, the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office posted two photos on social media showing the suspect in a shooting position with a rifle in his hand and called on residents to help identify and apprehend him.

NOT WEARING MASK DREW ATTENTION

Security camera footage showed the suspect wearing a brown coat and black trousers targeting people with a long-barreled gun.

It was noted that the suspect, who was thought to be preparing for the attack from his clothes, did not wear a mask on his face and was not concerned about hiding his identity.

The 40-year-old worked as an army firearms instructor and recently spent time at a mental health facility after hearing voices, according to an internal police notice.

According to law enforcement sources, between 15 to 20 people are believed to have been killed.

NBC News earlier reported 22 people had been killed, citing a Lewiston police source.

Sky's US correspondent Martha Kelner said the owner of the bowling alley says it was packed at the time with at least 100 people, including around 20 children.
