The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip may run out of electricity in a few hours due to a lack of fuel and that a humanitarian catastrophe is imminent.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned of a humanitarian catastrophe, announcing that the main generator of Shifa Hospital, the largest medical complex in the blockaded Gaza Strip, may shut down in a few hours due to lack of fuel.

"We are warning of a humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the main generator at Shifa Hospital shutting down in a few hours due to lack of fuel. Backup generators can only provide electricity to three sensitive departments for a few hours," In a written statement, Palestinian Health Minister Miya Keyle emphasized.

Keyle pointed out that 16 of the 35 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are inoperable due to the bombardment and lack of fuel, noting that the others could be out of service within 24 hours due to fuel shortages.
