Egyptian Health Ministry said seven people were killed and 261 were wounded in separate clashes across the capital Cairo since Monday. “Two people were killed and 134 wounded in Ramses and the 6 October Bridge area,” Mohammad Soltan, the head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday. “Two people were killed and 114 injured in the vicinity of Nahda Mosque near Cairo University,” he added. “One person was killed and 8 wounded in the Giza areas of al-Bahr al-Aazan and al-Mahata.” Thousands of Morsi loyalists had converged on the vital Ramses square in downtown Cairo Monday to demand his return to office. They also blocked the 6 October Bridge, a main artery in the Egyptian capital, chanting slogans against Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Sisi announced a roadmap for post-Morsi on July 3, suspending the constitution and naming the head of the constitution court as interim president. The move followed days of mass protests nationwide demanding the removal of Egypt's first democratically elected president. Since then, thousands of Morsi loyalists have taken to the streets across the country to defend the deposed president's democratic legitimacy and demand his return to office.
