Three army officers, three soldiers and one civilian were injured in a rocket attack on army and security posts in the North Sinai town of Rafah in the early hours of Wednesday, security and medical sources told Anadolu Agency. The wounded were taken to Arish Hospital with wounds from shrapnel, a medical source said. Eyewitnesses told AA that unknown gunmen fired rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) on a security facility and two army assemblies in Rafah on the borders with Gaza. Soon after militants opened fire on a security checkpoint near Arish airport. Two militants also opened fire on a police vehicle and fled the scene. Sinai has seen an increasing number of militant attacks on security troops and facilities since the ouster of elected president Mohamed Morsi by the powerful army on July 3.
