Turkish defense industry achieves multiple innovations with military land vehicles

FNSS Savunma Sistemleri has been serving numerous domestic and international users with 24 distinct defense systems developed through national resources over 35 years.

FNSS specialized in designing and producing tracked and wheeled armored combat vehicle families and weapon systems for the Turkish Armed Forces and allied forces.

FNSS has secured patents and utility model registrations for numerous technological solutions developed alongside its innovative subsystems.

The company was honored at the Ankara Chamber of Industry's 60th-anniversary awards ceremony in the category of Large Enterprises, for significantly increasing the number of utility models.

The company filed a patent application for the Cross-Drive E-Transmission for Serial Hybrid Tracked Vehicles.

This innovation encompasses a cross-drive electric transmission in electric and serial hybrid vehicles, tracked, skid-steer military vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, and construction machinery. The primary aim of this invention is to merge the advantages of cross-drive and independent drive structures, ensuring efficient power distribution among three motors, enhancing reliability, and enabling continued operation even in the event of a single motor failure.

Another patent-pending invention, the Powertrain Test Unit, has been developed to verify and test whether components like engines and transmissions in the powertrain of armored vehicles, particularly 6x6 and 8x8-wheeled armored vehicles, meet necessary parameters and operate smoothly after maintenance procedures before being reinstalled on the vehicle.

The main objective of this invention is to enable the testing of all powertrain components without the need for entire vehicle assembly, enhancing convenience and flexibility. Designed for portability, the system can be utilized in various locations.

It provides users real-time information through screens and warning indicators regarding speed, gear, temperature, fuel values, battery status, and potential system faults. The unit includes a control panel allowing technicians to start the engine, adjust engine speed, change gears, and display sensor readings on the screen or warning indicators.

The unit facilitates optimal powertrain maintenance, reducing downtime, preventing critical failures, and increasing vehicle uptime. It operates on internal batteries without requiring an external power source.

Another patent granted is for the Portable Load Lifting Mechanism for Military Vehicles, comprising a hand winch for lifting loads onto military vehicles, a load-bearing mast, and a portable arm with a dynamometer for weighing loads or an arm for lifting known loads.

The easily deployable and foldable mechanism can be stored conveniently on or inside the vehicle for quick access.
