Valladolid International Film Festival highlights Turkish cinema
Around 20 Turkish films made between 2004 and 2013 to be screened at one of Europe's oldest film festivals later this month.
Turkish cinema will be the center of attention at Spains 59th Valladolid International Film Festival later this month.
A selection of 18 Turkish feature films (17 fiction movies and one documentary) made between 2004 and 2013 will be screened during the festival.
President of the Ankara Cinema Foundation, Ahmet Boyacioglu, said that a planned Turkish Cinema Dictionary would be the first Spanish book about the Turkish film industry.
The cycle will reveal a new generation of Turkish directors who began their careers in the middle of the past decade, and continue to garner recognition in the world of indie films and arrange a connection between their personal experiences and political/social film, said festival organizers.
As one of Europes oldest film festivals, Valladolid International introduces lesser-known directors to Spanish cinema lovers.
