Russian jet intercepted a Polish jet in the Black Sea
On Saturday, a Russian warplane intercepted a Polish plane patrolling the Black Sea. Romania described this move as "aggressive and dangerous maneuvers".
The Romanian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that a Russian warplane intercepted a Polish plane patrolling the Black Sea region for the EU's class agency.
The Polish border guard plane was on a routine Frontex patrol with Romanian border police Friday when it was intercepted by repeated “aggressive and dangerous maneuvers,” performed by the Sukhoi Su-35 fighter, said a ministry statement.
According to the news of The Defense Post, Romanian and Spanish planes were put on “pre-alert” by NATO when the incident happened, but the Polish crew managed to land safely, the statement added.
CLOSE TO INTERNATIONAL AIRSPACE
The incident occurred about 60 km east of "in international airspace over the Black Sea," according to the ministry's statement.
"This incident is further evidence of the provocative approach of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea.” said Bucharest.
