The Turkish Embassy in Brussels hosted a significant event where Türkiye's Ambassador to Belgium, Bekir Uysal, met with a group of dynamic Turkish women entrepreneurs.

This meeting aimed to bolster the roles these leaders play in the international business arena and to enhance bilateral trade relations between Türkiye and Belgium.

Ambassador Uysal shared his enthusiasm about the gathering, “Hosting the members and executives from the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Türkiye (KAGIDER), along with numerous esteemed businesswomen active in Belgium, brings me great joy.”

He asserted the crucial impact of Turkish women in business, saying, “Seeing Turkish women excel and take on significant roles in the business community is very fulfilling. Their involvement is vital for our economic landscape.”

In his remarks, Uysal pointed out robust trade figures between the two nations, with Belgium boasting approximately $557 billion in exports and $536 billion in imports. He emphasized the potential for increased partnerships, noting, “These trade volumes present substantial opportunities for sectors in both our countries to engage more intensively, which motivated us to organize this event.”

Esra Bezircioglu, President of KAGIDER, addressed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their operations, specifically the reduced interaction with European Union institutions in Brussels. “We have faced challenges in maintaining our usual level of contact during the pandemic, but we are committed to intensifying these efforts moving forward,” said Bezircioglu.

She highlighted KAGIDER’s dedication in supporting women entrepreneurs and referenced their active involvement in Brussels from 2008 to 2019.

The event attracted numerous attendees, indicating a strong interest and proactive approach by Turkish women entrepreneurs in extending their influence and networks throughout Europe.

The discussions and networking at this event are expected to open new avenues for cooperation and business opportunities between Türkiye and Belgium, further reinforcing the crucial role of women in shaping the global economic framework.
