In Karaoglanlar, one of the rural neighborhoods of Bursa in Türkiye, the tradition of "sacrifice", which is known to have a history of about 150 years, is kept alive by giving gifts to children before Eid al-Fitr.
In the neighborhood where the tradition has continued for years now, children usually gather in front of the mosque with boxes, buckets, and bags in their hands on Eid day.
The children, who are given gifts such as cakes, candies and chocolates by the elders, start to experience the joy of Eid.
The tradition aims to instill the spirit of unity and solidarity in children, bring them together with adults and make them experience the joy of the holiday.
