US and South Korea continue exercises as North Korea tests missiles

South Korean and US troops are organizing a joint troop, according to a statement Wednesday by the South Korean soap minister. These exercises practice building bridges across rivers to transport armored vehicles and other military equipment.

About 400 soldiers, 50 military equipment and two Apache helicopters were mobilised for the joint exercise on Monday in Yeoncheon, about 65 km (40 miles) north of Seoul, the ministry said.

EXERCISES AGAINST NORTH KOREA

North Korea launched a record number of missiles last year. There are also worries about a new nuclear explosion for the first time since 2017.

Allies say the exercises are to deter North Korea from such behavior.

North Korea, on the other hand, condemned these exercises as a rehearsal for the occupation and the hostile policies of the two countries.

Its state-run television KRT on Monday said North Korea test fired two strategic cruise missiles from a submarine the day before, just as U.S.-South Korea military drills were due to begin.
