China to close Taiwan airspace

Following the China-Taiwan tension, it was reported that the Beijing administration will close its airspace in northern Taiwan for 27 minutes on April 16.

Taiwan's Ministry of Transport and Communications protested the Beijing government's decision.

Taiwan Ministry of Transport and Communications stated that the Beijing administration first wanted to implement this ban for 3 days between April 16-18, but after the reactions from Taiwan, it was reduced to 27 minutes.

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) also stated that it is following the issue closely and announced that the no-fly zone is located in the country's air defense identification zone (ADIZ), approximately 85 nautical miles north of Taiwan.

AFTER US TAIWAN MEETING, CHINA INCREASED EXERCISES

Last week, Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen met with US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy in California, and the Beijing administration, which reacted sharply to this meeting, increased its military exercises around Taiwan.

The Beijing administration, which followed a similar policy after the visit of former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan last year, has been holding frequent exercises in waters close to Taiwan in recent times.
