US announces 1 billion dollar support package for Ukraine

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new 1 billion dollar support package for Ukraine during his visit to Kyiv. The package includes High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) missiles and uranium tank ammunition for Abrams tanks, as well as financial support.

The United States (US) will provide Ukraine with 1 billion dollars in support, in addition, Ukraine is successfully advancing in its offensive against Russia, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at a press conference after his visit to Kyiv.

Blinken visited Ukraine "by surprise" and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

Speaking to the press before his meetings with Zelenskiyy and Shmygal, Blinken emphasized that the US will continue to support Ukraine. After that, Blinken held a joint press conference after his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Kuleba.

'UKRAINE'S SUCCESS CANNOT BE IGNORED'

In his speech, Blinken stated that he listened to Zelenskyy's experiences on the front line and stated that Ukraine's recent success in attacking Russia cannot be ignored.

"The ongoing counter-offensive has gathered momentum in recent weeks. This momentum will be further accelerated by our new assistance to Ukraine," he said.

HIMARS MISSILES TO BE ASSISTED

In addition, Blinken announced the US aid package, which includes High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) missiles and uranium tank ammunition for Abrams tanks, as well as financial support.

As part of the aid package, Ukraine will receive 175 million dollars in defense assistance. This includes High-Performance Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) missiles, Javelin armor-piercing missile systems, anti-tank systems, and uranium tank ammunition for Abrams tanks.

With this, 300 million dollars of the newly announced package includes law enforcement support for the establishment of order in the regions taken from Russia.

100 million dollars of this package will be provided as "foreign military financing" and 206 million dollars as humanitarian aid. The remainder will be provided for Ukraine's long-term needs.
