US Abrahams tanks to be sent to Ukraine: Biden

United States President Joe Biden made important statements at the press conference held after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House. Biden announced a new military support package of 325 million dollars to Kyiv and said that Abrams tanks would be delivered to Ukraine.

"Next week the first US Abrams tanks will be delivered to Ukraine," Biden said.

Biden said that they are focusing on strengthening Ukraine's air defense capabilities and mentioned that they will provide additional equipment in this context. Explaining that they will also provide reform and financial support within the scope of Ukraine's future, Biden emphasized that they will continue to stand by this country.

PRAISE TO PEOPLE OF UKRAINE

Praising the courage shown by the Ukrainian people, Biden said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was mistaken in his views that he could destroy Ukraine and NATO. Biden emphasized that the United States, together with allies and partners, will continue to provide humanitarian assistance as well as military support to Ukraine to take back its territory.

Reiterating the message that they support a just and lasting peace that respects Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Biden noted that Russia is an obstacle to peace and could end the war today if it wanted to. Instead, Biden argued that Russia is seeking to buy more weapons from Iran and North Korea.

ZELENSKYY ASKS FOR SUPPORT FOR AIR DEFENCE

Zelenskyy thanked the United States (US) for its assistance and stated that they had a productive meeting. He stated that they agreed on certain steps on issues such as improving Ukraine's defense capabilities, strengthening air defense capabilities in the winter period, and grain exports, and noted that they will continue to work on the peace formula.
