US approves sale of AARGM-ER missiles to Poland, Netherlands

The U.S. State Department has given its nod for the provision of several hundred advanced anti-radiation guided missiles-extended range (AARGM-ER) air-to-surface missiles to the governments of Poland and the Netherlands.

The transactions, made through foreign military sales, involve a deal worth $1.3 billion for Poland and $700 million for the Netherlands. However, congressional approval is required to finalize these purchases.

The Polish request includes the supply of 360 AARGM-ER all-up rounds, eight AGM-88G AARGM-ER guidance sections (spare) and eight AGM-88G AARGM-ER control sections.

The proposed package also includes mock air training missiles, missile containers, software, training materials, support equipment, spare and repair parts, and an embedded global positioning system receiver (M-Code).

On the other hand, the Netherlands has expressed interest in procuring 265 AGM-88G Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missiles-Extended Range (AARGM-ER) with an estimated value of $700 million and related logistics and program support elements. This request is part of the country's efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities.

Under the agreement, the U.S. government and contractors will also provide publications, technical documentation, transportation, engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics and program support.
