As of January-end, Türkiye's external assets reached $324.5 billion, reflecting a notable increase

Türkiye's external assets top $320B

Türkiye's external assets totaled $324.5 billion as of the end of January, down 1.1 percent from the end of 2023, Türkiye's central bank revealed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the bank noted that liabilities against non-residents amounted to $624.5 billion, up by 1.9% over the same period.

The net international investment position, assets minus liabilities, was minus $300 billion at the end of January, up from minus $284.7 billion at the end of last year.

Reserve assets recorded $133.9 billion, indicating a decrease of 5%, while other investments recorded $125.5 billion, an increase of 2.7% compared to the end of 2023.

Portfolio investment increased by 4.7% and recorded $100.4 billion compared to the end of 2023.

Non-residents’ equity holdings recorded $33.1 billion, reflecting an increase of 12% compared to the end of last year.

The total external loan stock of the banks recorded $63.7 billion, increasing by 0.7% compared to the end of 2023, and the total external loan stock of the other sectors recorded $98.3 billion, decreasing by 2.1%.
