Sumatran tiger debuts at Rome's Biopark Zoo

Biopark Zoo, located in Rome, the capital of Italy, hosted an event to introduce an endangered female Sumatran tiger who was born on Dec. 1, 2023.

The Biopark Zoo is known for its modern facilities that simulate natural habitats and its mission of protecting rare species.

Animal lovers gathered to catch a glimpse of the rare tiger, known for its elegant lines and firm structure. Zoo managers stated that bringing Kala to the Biopark offers visitors a unique opportunity and aims to contribute to the conservation of this rare species.

Such events not only create unforgettable memories for visitors but also raise awareness about the importance of conserving nature.

With fewer than 600 Sumatran togers remaining in the wild, these cats are listed as critically endangered in the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species. Therefore, the zoo considers it extremely important to ensure the survival of this species.

At the event, visitors had the chance to visit Kala's habitat and observe its daily activities. They also learned about the steps being taken to protect the endangered species and its interactions with nature through Biopark officials.
