The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed the world's first humanoid robot pilot, PIBOT. As the name suggests, PIBOT will be in the airplane and act as a pilot instead of a human.

PIBOT POWERED BY CHATGPT TECHNOLOGY

According to New Atlas, PIBOT is physically designed to sit in the pilot's seat. The humanoid robot pilot can use both hands to control the yoke and operate all of the buttons on the aircraft.

The humanoid robot can also adapt to all airplanes. In other words, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, while developing the humanoid robot pilot, designed it in such a way that it can fully use the airplane.

PIBOT also receives support from ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot. PIBOT, which receives support from ChatGPT, can also effectively use flight maps and emergency maps.

David Hyunchul Shim, who led the project, said that PIBOT is now fully operational.

"We expect them to be applied to various other vehicles, such as cars and military trucks, as they can control a wide range of equipment. It will be particularly helpful in situations where military resources are severely depleted,” Shim said.

Finally, Shim announced that they plan to commercialize the PIBOT for both military and civilian use and aim to complete their work by 2026.
