Apple Music may soon allow users to import Spotify playlists

Apple Music might develop an official method to bring music from Spotify and other applications.

Users on Reddit have mentioned seeing a choice to "transfer music from other services" on the Apple Music library page. This could indicate that Apple is conducting tests on the beta version of this capability on Android, according to a tech website, 9to5Mac.

The new feature seems inspired by SongShift, an established third-party application. For a long time, SongShift has enabled users to smoothly move music between different streaming services, such as Apple Music and Spotify. This function guarantees users can relish their music collection in any favored application without interruptions.

If Apple intends to include SongShift (or a similar music transfer application) directly into Apple Music, there is a precedent for this. Historically, Apple has purchased well-liked third-party applications rather than creating competing ones.

For instance, in 2018, Apple acquired Shazam, a music application.

In 2020, it bought the Dark Sky weather application, and Apple's native Weather app integrated most of its features.

Introducing native integration to import tracks from Spotify is a strategic maneuver. Nevertheless, it is surprising that Apple would collaborate with its primary competitor. Apple recently faced a 500 million euro fine for allegedly favoring Apple Music over other music applications (like Spotify) on the App Store.

Nevertheless, one advantage of this rumored new import feature is that transitioning from Spotify to Apple Music should be effortless, which could motivate more users to switch to Apple's popular music application.
