One of the standout features of Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra is its highly acclaimed anti-glare screen. The display incorporates Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor, which boasts an anti-glare film that reduces reflections by as much as 75%. This results in sharper and more vivid visuals in settings with ambient light, such as direct sunlight. Now, Apple seems poised to emulate this characteristic in its 2025 phone range.

As per a recent disclosure by Instant Digital on Weibo, the forthcoming iPhone 17 series, slated for a 2025 release, will sport a “highly durable anti-glare layer” that offers “greater scratch resistance than anticipated,” according to MacRumors. The source mentioned that Apple has outsourced the application of this layer to manufacturing partners to integrate it into the display production process. Regrettably, this enhancement won’t be available in this year’s iPhone 16 lineup due to time constraints.

Presently, there is no confirmation regarding Apple’s utilization of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor or an alternative solution for this enhancement. Apple might potentially collaborate with Corning to provide a similar technology found in Gorilla Glass Armor but marketed under a distinct name for the iPhone 17 series. This strategy could serve to distinguish the anti-glare feature on the upcoming iPhone models from that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, aiming to establish a unique identity for the brand and the device, thereby generating excitement and driving sales.
