Erdogan criticizes Istanbul municipality for fire that claimed 29 lives

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made important statements at the traditional TURGEV iftar program held in Istanbul. Erdogan criticized Ekrem Imamoglu, the Mayor of Istanbul, for the death of 29 citizens in the fire tragedy in Gayrettepe and said, "They buried their heads in the sand."

Stating that the March 31 Local Elections are the harbinger of greater victories, Erdogan said, "We will plant the flag of victory on the bastions, and when the time comes, we will hand over our guard with peace of mind."

Erdogan made the following statements about the fire and deaths in Besiktas: "Those who always talk about the rights of the worker and laborer, who always talk about the rights of the worker and laborer, did not utter a single sentence for our 29 laborer brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Beşiktaş. Who gave this building the construction license, the zoning license and turned the bottom floor of the building into a casino? Now we continue to pursue this with our prosecutors. Who condoned the deaths of 29 of our citizens? Those who should draw the reaction of everyone with an ounce of conscience are burying their heads in the sand. They are thinking how to cover their own sins."

Making a series of statements about March 31 local elections and TURGEV, Erdogan concluded his speech with thanks.
