In a bid to foster women's empowerment, Turkish e-commerce giant Hepsiburada is supporting female entrepreneurs and offering a wide range of opportunities, from advertising to marketing.

Gokcetekin's remarks came during a significant meeting with Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas held at the Turkish House in New York City. The meeting took place as part of the ongoing 68th Session of the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), running from March 11 to March 22.

Highlighting Hepsiburada's dedication to encouraging female entrepreneurs, Gokcetekin detailed the company's initiatives to uplift women after the devastating earthquakes that struck 11 provinces of Türkiye in February 2023.

The support garnered recognition from the Nasdaq stock exchange, which showcased Hepsiburada alongside Turkish flag visuals on its digital billboards in Times Square.

Speaking on the significance of Hepsiburada's involvement in the CSW meetings, Gokcetekin stressed the company's role as a trailblazer in promoting women's economic development, underscoring collaborations with the U.N. and the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Türkiye (KAGIDER).

"We are the largest company on the Nasdaq technology stock exchange, founded and managed by women," Gokcetekin proudly proclaimed, emphasizing Hepsiburada's pivotal role in advancing gender equality and women's empowerment.

Hepsiburada aims to empower 120,000 women by 2030

Providing insights into the company's endeavors, Gokcetekin shed light on Hepsiburada's entrepreneur program launched in 2017, aimed at nurturing women entrepreneurs and fostering their economic growth. With nearly 50,000 entrepreneurs currently benefiting from the program, Hepsiburada aims to expand this figure to 120,000 by 2030.

Moreover, Gokcetekin outlined Hepsiburada's on-ground efforts in the earthquake-affected regions, including the establishment of specialized centers to train and empower women entrepreneurs. The company's ambitious goal is to uplift 5,000 women entrepreneurs in earthquake-stricken areas and 120,000 nationwide.

Hepsiburada, UN Women, KAGIDER elevate women entrepreneurs

In collaboration with U.N. Women and KAGIDER, Hepsiburada initiated a project featuring curated gift boxes containing products crafted by local women's cooperatives.

“We created a magnificent gift that will be passed from woman to woman," said the CEO.

These boxes, which include a range of items such as raw tahini, pomegranate syrup, silk shawls, and dried fruits, serve as a testament to Hepsiburada's commitment to supporting women artisans and entrepreneurs.

"We invite all women with entrepreneurial aspirations to join the Hepsiburada platform," Gokcetekin remarked, emphasizing the company's unwavering support in providing resources and assistance in various aspects of business development.

Through initiatives like the "My Business Partner" program and physical specialization centers, Hepsiburada aims to create an inclusive ecosystem where women can thrive and contribute to the economic prosperity of Türkiye.
