North Korea is launching cruise missiles in the direction of the Yellow Sea, the South Korean General Staff said in a statement. It was also stated that cruise missiles were launched early in the morning.

"Our military maintains full readiness in close cooperation with the United States (US) while strengthening vigilance," the statement added.

According to Yonhap, a South Korea-based news agency, the National Defence Council under the South Korean Presidency convened urgently. It was noteworthy that the missile tests took place after the "Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS)" military exercise of the U) and South Korea on August 17-31.

North Korean state media stated that the military exercise of South Korea and the US "deepened the risk of nuclear war" on the Korean Peninsula.
