North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a speech during his visit to the naval command headquarters. In his speech, he mentioned the exercise carried out by the United States (US) and its alliances, stating that the Korean Peninsula has become waters in danger of nuclear war. Kim signaled that he was ready for war and talked about naval improvement efforts, Ihlas News Agency reported.

Kim said that the steps of the US and its allies have made the Korean Peninsula the world's most unstable waters with the danger of nuclear war and that the naval forces will be part of his country's nuclear deterrence, the Ihlas News Agency reported. The US, Japan, and South Korea conducted a trilateral missile defense exercise in the region.

NORTH KOREA GETTING READY

Reminding that the US and its allies are conducting joint military exercises in the region and nuclear strategic assets have been deployed to the region, Kim said, "Given the recent aggressive initiatives of the enemy and the nature of its military actions, the rapid development of the capabilities of the naval forces has become an urgent issue."

'GANG LEADER' ANALOGY

Speaking about this month's summit between US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol at the Camp David compound in the US state of Maryland, Kim described the presidents of the three countries as "gang leaders". Arguing that the steps of the US and other hostile powers are "reckless confrontational moves", Kim stated that this situation has made the region off the Korean Peninsula "the world's largest ammunition stockpile point" and "the world's most unstable waters with the danger of nuclear war".

NUCLEAR THREAT

Noting that different service units will be equipped with new weapons in line with the construction of the state's nuclear power, Kim said that the North Korean navy will become part of the state's nuclear deterrence. Kim added that the navy should be prepared at any time to "break the enemy's will to war". Kim also reportedly held a dinner invitation in honor of senior military officials on the evening of 27 August as part of the Navy Day celebrations.

On the other hand, it was reported that the US, Japan, and South Korea held a trilateral missile defense exercise in international waters south of the Korean Peninsula today. In a statement made by the South Korean Navy, it was noted that USS Benfold from the USA, JS Haguro from Japan, and ROKS Yulgok Yi I warships from South Korea took part in the exercise, which was carried out to prepare against Pyongyang's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile threat. It was announced that the ships, equipped with the US-made "Aegis" weapon system, implemented target detection and tracking and information sharing procedures against a possible ballistic missile threat from North Korea.
