Congratulating Jinping for his third election as president, Putin said, "China has made a leap in recent years. They are receiving serious attention in the world and even make us a little jealous. China has created a very effective system to develop its economy and strengthen the state."
Touching on the relations between the two countries, the Russian leader said, "Exactly 10 years ago, you made your first visit to Russia as the President of the People's Republic of China. During this time, we have taken important steps to improve relations. Trade relations between Russia and China have more than doubled and exceeded 185 billion dollars."
'CHINA IS TAKING A FAIR STANCE'
Emphasizing that China has a fair stance in the international arena, Vladimir Putin said, "I know that you and our Chinese friends attach great importance to the development of relations between Russia and China, and that China displays a fair and balanced stance even in important problems."
Referring to China's proposals for the solution of the crisis in Ukraine, Putin said, "We have carefully examined your recommendations for the solution of the acute crisis in Ukraine. Of course, we will have the opportunity to consult on this issue. We are always open to the negotiation process. All of these, including your initiatives, which we absolutely respect. We will definitely discuss the issues."
Xi Jinping, on the other hand, stated that Putin has a strong stance and said: "Thanks to your strong leadership, Russia has made significant progress in the welfare of the country in recent years. I am confident that the Russian people will support Putin in next year's election."
