Mitsotakis criticized Türkiye to the German press

Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis complains about Türkiye to the West at every opportunity. The Greek Prime Minister, who carries out the general election activities to be held in Greece on May 21st through hostility towards Türkiye, promises to close the Turkish borders with walls as an election promise.

COMPLAINTS ON TÜRKİYE TO THE GERMAN PRESS

According to the news in Ensonhaber, speaking to Bild newspaper from the German press, Mitsotakis blamed Türkiye while giving messages about the movement of immigrants to the continent.

Citing the words of the Greek Prime Minister, "He wants to keep refugees away from Europe. He has a wall built for this." wrote German Bild. Mitsotakis stated that he believes Europe's immigration policy "won't work without walls and fences at the outer borders".

Targeting Türkiye by saying, "Türkiye used immigration as a weapon," Mitsotakis used the following statements:

Six months after taking office, we were faced with an organized illegal immigrant occupation in Greece, that is, on European soil. Türkiye was the first country to use immigration as a weapon for geopolitical purposes. At that time, the entire leadership of the European Union came to the Turkish-Greek border and applauded us as we defended the border.”

HE WANTED MONEY FROM EU COUNTRIES

While the German newspaper stated that there is already a wall between Greece and Türkiye on the Evros River, "Greece wants to expand it and demands subsidies from the European Union," it wrote. Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis argued that it was "not fair" for Athens to have to pay for the construction of the wall alone.

'WE ARE A FRONT-LINE STATE'

Explaining that they faced the pressure of immigration at the forefront, Miçotakis said, “We are a front-line state. We are exposed to serious immigration pressure. We are waiting for help from the European Union. I will work for maximum support. If this is not possible, we will build the fence with national funds. It is expensive but certainly possible for a country like Greece.”
