US President Biden's request for additional $105 billion in funding for Israel and Ukraine

While the Israel-Hamas war continues, United States (US) President Joe Biden, who emphasizes his support for Israel at every opportunity, asked for an “emergency budget” for Israel from the Congress. Biden, who announced in his previous statements that 'unprecedented aid' would be provided, requested 14.3 billion dollars in funding for Israel.

In the statement made by the White House, 61 billion dollars of the additional funding of 105 billion dollars will go to Ukraine, which continues the war with Russia.

It said that 4 billion dollars of the budget will be used to reinforce the Iron Dome and David's Sling air and missile defense systems, while 1.2 billion dollars will be allocated for the development of the Iron Beam air defense system.

61 BILLION DOLLARS TO UKRAINE

It was stated that the vast majority of the additional funding requested from Congress, 61 billion dollars, is within the scope of US military aid to Ukraine.

According to the statement, which noted that some of the additional funding will be used to increase security measures on the US-Mexico border, the Biden administration requested over 9 billion dollars for humanitarian aid, including the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

APPLIED TO CONGRESS WITH 'URGENT BUDGET'

US President Biden had announced that he would submit an "emergency budget" request to Congress to support partners, including Israel and Ukraine, within the framework of US national security needs.

It remains unclear when the funding request will be approved, as the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, the lower wing of the US Congress, has failed to elect a new president.

In the House of Representatives, after the dismissal of President Kevin McCarthy at the beginning of the month, no president was elected in the third vote held today.
