40 lorries need to enter Gaza every day: World Food Programme

Over the next two months, 40 aid trucks should enter the territory every day to deliver food to 1.1 million people in Gaza, the World Food Programme (WFP) said in a statement.

In a written statement made by WFP, it was stated that there is a major fuel shortage in Gaza that will cause food aid to stop and that if there is no fuel supply, bakeries working with WFP will not be able to produce bread, which will cause a major blow to thousands of families.

With this, it was noted that the people of Gaza are in need of continuous aid to meet the enormous needs that arise, and that fuel is necessary not only for the ovens but also for the delivery of aid entering through the Rafah Border Gate to the relevant places.

In the WFP statement, it was emphasized that 40 trucks should enter Gaza every day in order for the programme to expand the scope of its humanitarian operations and deliver food aid to 1.1 million people in the next 2 months.

Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), stated in an article published in the British newspaper The Guardian on October 26 that approximately 500 trucks entered Gaza every day before October 7, 45 of which were carrying fuel.
