Aegean tensions won't resolve overnight, Greek PM
Tensions between Turkiye and Greece in the Aegean cannot be resolved overnight, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis says
Given the complex geography of the Aegean, tensions between Turkiye and Greece cannot be expected to be resolved immediately, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Greek state television Wednesday.
"I do not think that the disputes in the Aegean will be resolved overnight, but Greece will continue to pursue its goodwill approach. And I can say that this approach has had a significant positive impact,” Mitsotakis stressed.
The Greek prime minister also stressed that they would not block Turkiye's request to purchase F-16s, adding that Athens does not have the means to prevent the sale of defence equipment to other countries.
He noted that Greece's request to purchase F-35s from the U.S. is mature and expects the U.S. to respond to this request soon.
He also announced plans to visit the U.S. in two weeks to partake in a New York investment forum, where he will present investment opportunities in Greece to potential investors in the U.S.
