President Erdogan affirms Türkiye's resolve against terrorism

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized Türkiye's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism on Wednesday, affirming the nation's determination to uproot terrorist elements entirely.

During a gathering in Türkiye's Elazig province, Erdogan stated, "We are steadfast in our mission to ultimately eradicate the foundations of the mercenary forces serving imperialist agendas."

Erdogan highlighted Türkiye's proactive stance against terrorism, both within its borders and beyond, emphasizing the transformation of regions previously plagued by conflict into havens of peace and security.

"Areas such as Cudi, once dominated by terrorists, are now safe for exploration by tourists from across our nation and the globe," Erdogan remarked. "We have ventured into once deemed impassable territories, clearing them of threats."

He also addressed attempts to establish a "Terroristan" by separatist groups in Syria, noting their thwarting through Türkiye's strategic operations.

"Our counterterrorism efforts align with our strategic goals and are progressing effectively," Erdogan affirmed.

"We will hold accountable those who, backed by Western interests, covet our lands and seek to divide us," Erdogan asserted. "We remain resolute in our response, proportional to their actions."

Erdogan emphasized, "When it concerns the preservation of our homeland, the unity of our nation, and the safety of our citizens, we spare no effort."

Earlier in the week, Erdogan had warned, "We are prepared to confront new challenges posed by those attempting to undermine Türkiye with terrorist activities along our southern borders." This reference primarily addressed the PKK, operating from northern Iraq, and its Syrian offshoot YPG.

The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the EU, has been responsible for over 40,000 casualties, including innocent women, children, and infants, throughout its decadeslong terror campaign.
