Pre-agreements set for over 20 deals during Erdogan's historic visit to Iraq: FM Fidan

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the "pre-agreements have been completed for the signing of over 20 agreements during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's historic visit to Iraq after a 12-year hiatus."

Fidan held a joint press conference with Mauritania's Foreign Minister, Mohammed Salim Vild Merzuk, in Istanbul.

"We have completed pre-agreements for the signing of over 20 agreements during our President's visit. The visit will have two legs, with stops in Baghdad and Erbil. In Baghdad, our President will meet with the Prime Minister for a working lunch meeting, followed by the signing of agreements. Additionally, he will meet with the Iraqi President," the foreign minister said.

Fidan also maintained that despite Iraq's vast potential and opportunities, the country faces significant challenges in delivering basic services to its people. "We see that the current government is developing awareness," he added.

"Together, we will explore what we can do and how we can improve irrigation systems. We are determined to provide all kinds of support in implementing energy projects," the minister concluded.
