'Blue Talks' event in Ankara highlights ocean action, climate change

An event titled "Blue Talks," organized under the theme "In the Midst of Change: Ocean Action and Climate Change," took place in Ankara.

The event featured a workshop titled "Interaction with Tomorrow's Climate Leadership: Discussion with Youth," where children and young people engaged in discussions.

The "Blue Talks" event will serve as an important platform for high-level diplomatic participation and joint environmental action.

Speaking at the workshop titled "Interaction with Tomorrow's Climate Leadership," Gustavo Campos Fallas, the Ambassador of Costa Rica to Ankara, conversed with young people about the significance of oceans for human life, food security and the environment.

Kahraman Haliscelik, President of Our World Foundation, explained how oceans purify the atmosphere and engaged in discussions with young people about the kind of future they can leave for unborn children.

Highlighting Japan-Türkiye partnership

Japanese Ambassador Katsumata Takahiko, in his speech, stated that Türkiye is a strong and influential country, emphasizing the significant support it provides in combating climate change.

Ambassador Katsumata noted that Japan and Türkiye will implement new collaborations in the field of new energy technologies and emphasized the importance of cooperation with Türkiye in maritime affairs.

Highlighting Japan's implementation of a legal framework in the fight against climate change, Katsumata said: "Each country has a different economic and social structure. Japan provides support to more sensitive countries, such as Africa, especially in preventing greenhouse gas emissions."

"Blue Talks," organized by Our World Foundation in collaboration with the University for Peace (UPEACE) of the United Nations, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Costa Rica in Ankara, was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, as well as ambassadors from countries such as Costa Rica, France, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

Planned to be held annually, the event will focus on the importance of oceans in climate resilience and will feature the views of senior officials and experts
