Türkiye's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Sedat Onal, who has been appointed as Türkiye's Ambassador to Washington, paid a farewell visit to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
A post regarding the visit was shared on the social media account of Türkiye's Permanent Mission to the UN.
During the visit, Onal expressed gratitude to Guterres for his support towards Türkiye's initiatives.
As he assumes his new role as Türkiye's Ambassador to Washington, Onal affirmed that Türkiye will continue to contribute to the UN's agenda for peace and development.
Meanwhile, President of the 78th UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis, congratulated Onal on his new position through a message shared on social media, using the Turkish phrase "Tesekkur ederim" (Thank you). Francis thanked Onal for his efforts towards multilateralism at the UN and wished him success.
The position vacated by Onal will be assumed by Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
