Zionist Jew threatens Turkish coach after quarterfinal match

After Thursday's match between Panathinaikos and Maccabi Tel Aviv, tensions escalated as Panathinaikos secured a victory, evening the series at 1-1. Reports emerged that a Maccabi Tel Aviv staff member made threatening remarks toward Panathinaikos' Turkish coach Ergin Ataman.

At the press conference, Ataman said that as he was going to the locker room, a Maccabi Tel Aviv staff member who did not have an accredited card made threats saying, "We will meet in Israel, we will see what the Zionists do to you."
In his statement, Ergin Ataman said: “I am Ergin Ataman! I am the coach of Panathinaikos. I am the coach of the Turkish National Team, I am a Turkish citizen. You cannot do anything to me," he said.

Ataman also stated in his statement that he was targeted for off-field reasons.

Criticizing the referees after the first match of the series, Ataman said: "We don't want to believe that the tragic events unfolding globally, such as those in Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, and Israel, which deeply disturb us all, could impact professional basketball. However, the clear referee mistakes yesterday leave us with no alternative explanation."
