German Chancellor Angela Merkel repeated her demand for the release of Egypt's first elected President Mohammad Morsi , who was ousted by the army on July 3, 2013. Speaking at the 16th 'Conversation with Press' conference, Merkel said she pays no attention to some European countries not calling the recent incidents in Egypt as 'coup'. She stressed her demand on ousted president Morsi's release and underlined all sides should participate in the political process from now on. Upon a question, Merkel stated her policy on Turkey would not change after she was reelected and reminded that she did not meet Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during Gezi Park incidents in Turkey but that her Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle led the process during those incidents. "I expressed that I was shocked on the recent incidents. I hope people in Turkey will have the chance to use their rights inclusively while protesting," Merkel added.
