Ukraine confirms attacking 2 Russian landing ships in Crimea

Ukraine hit two Russian military ships stationed in Crimea in the late hours of March 23, Ukraine's Armed Forces confirmed on March 24.

This attack targeted the Russian landing ships Yamal and Azov, part of the Black Sea Fleet's 197th Landing Ships Brigade.

The strategic communications center of Ukraine's Armed Forces announced: "The Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully struck the amphibious landing ships Yamal and Azov, a communications center, and a number of the Black Sea Fleet's infrastructure sites."

This attack signaled Ukraine's resistance against the Russian military's presence in Crimea, a territory that Russia has occupied since 2014.

In a swift response, Russia intensified its air assaults across Ukraine. Both Kyiv and Lviv endured severe bombardments early Sunday.

"Russia does not give up its goal of destroying Kyiv at any cost," reported Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv's military administration. Ukrainian residents were urged to seek shelter amid the heightened attacks.

Compounding regional tensions, a Russian cruise missile breached Polish airspace, as confirmed by the Polish army

"One of the cruise missiles fired in the night by the air forces of the Russian Federation breached Polish airspace," they stated, signaling a significant escalation in the conflict’s geographical scope.

The human and material cost of the conflict continues to mount.

According to a recent report from the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Russia has suffered substantial losses since February 2022, with a total of 436,750 troops, in addition to thousands of tanks, armored vehicles and aircraft.
