A new species of dinosaur, the 145-million-year-oldMinimocursor phunoiensis, has been discovered in Thailand, revealing one of the best-preserved fossils ever found in Southeast Asia.

Sita Manitkoon from the Paleontological Research and Education Center at Mahasarakham University in Thailand led the research. Manitkoon said it was a very special discovery.

"I'm 34 years old and I found a new dinosaur. It's very, very exciting," Manitkoon said.

The fossil is an "extraordinarily articulated skeleton" and is the best-preserved dinosaur fossil ever found in Southeast Asia, the researchers said in a newly published study.

"This is one of the most complete skeletons. Before, dinosaurs in Thailand were usually found with scattered bones. Just some leg bones, some parts like vertebrae. But in this case, we found a skeleton with joints, so it's very special," Manitkoon added.
