Adam Johnson, who played for the British professional ice hockey club Nottingham Panthers, died as a result of the opponent's skate hitting his neck during the match.
In the 35th minute of the Challenge Cup match between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers, the first intervention to the 29-year-old American player, who was on the ground after the intervention of his opponent, was made by the medical teams on the sidelines.
Johnson died due to a skate blow to the neck despite intervention.
