Football star Dani Alves guilty in Spain's nightclub assault case

A court decision has been issued Thursday stating that former Barcelona and Brazil football player Dani Alves attacked a woman in a nightclub in Spain.

Forty-year-old Alves was found guilty of allegedly assaulting the woman on the night of Dec. 31, 2022, and was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

Alves denied the charges and his lawyer requested that he should be acquitted.

However, the court found Alves guilty, determining that the woman did not consent.

It was claimed that Alves lured the woman to the VIP toilet section of a nightclub, and the court stated that there was other evidence besides the woman's statement after the incident.

This decision garnered attention when one of the leading names in the football world was mentioned with assault accusations.

Alves is a name who has won many awards throughout his career in big clubs such as Barcelona and left a significant mark in the history of football.
