Atletico Madrid advances to Champions League quarterfinals after dramatic penalty shootout victory over Inter Milan

Atletico Madrid defeated Inter Milan in an exciting match to book their spot in the Champions League quarterfinals at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Diego Simeone's team won 3-2 on penalties after a tight match that finished 1-1 in ordinary time thanks to Jan Oblak's heroics in goal and a late victory in regulation.

The drama started when Atletico Madrid, down 1-0 after the first leg, fought valiantly to close the gap. Memphis Depay's goal in the 87th minute ignited the home crowd's celebrations and led to a fierce penalty shootout.

The reliable goalie for Atletico, Oblak, showed off his skills by stopping penalties from Davy Klaassen and Alexis Sánchez. Meanwhile, Lautaro Martínez of Inter missed the game-winning penalty, which sent Atletico into the next round.

Atletico showed tenacity and will to win despite Inter's strong performance going into the game—they were undefeated in 15 straight games and riding a 13-game winning run. Two minutes later, Antoine Griezmann quickly equalized, giving Atletico fresh optimism in their campaign after Federico Dimarco had given Inter the lead in the 33rd minute.
