Champions League action returned last night with German side Bayern Munich grabbing a last-gasp winning goal at home against reigning English Premier League title holders, Manchester City.

Bayern’s German center-back Jerome Boateng stunned City with his 90th minute strike which gave victory to the home side.

Roma, Barcelona and Porto were also Wednesday-night winners.

Roma made a flying start by smashing Russian opponents CSKA Moscow 5-1 at home.

Competing in Group F, Catalan team Barcelona scraped past APOEL thanks to a single goal scored by Spanish regular Gerard Pique in the 28th minute.

French side Paris Saint-Germain drew against Ajax 1-1 in Amsterdam. PSG’s Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani's goal in the 14th minute was not enough for the Parisians to take victory in the Netherlands as Ajax's Lasse Schone equalized late in the second half.

Both Group G games ended in a 1-1 draw. London team Chelsea tied against German club Schalke 04 while Sporting Lisbon were stunned by a late equalizer against Maribor.

Group H's Porto humiliated BATE Borisov with an extravagant 6-0 score at home. Porto's 24-year-old Algerian striker Yacine Brahimi shone in the match by making a hat-trick. In other game of the group Basque club Athletic Bilbao had a goalless draw against Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk.
