Albania declares national mourning for earthquakes in Türkiye

After the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, Albania announced that a one-day national mourning would be declared in the country on 13 February. "As a sign of solidarity with friendly Türkiye, the Albanian government has decided to declare national mourning on Monday, February 13," the statement said on social media.

A one-day national mourning was declared in Albania on 13 February due to the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, which were described as the disaster of the century. 

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the government's decision on his social media account. Reminding that the halving of the flags and the lighting of candles on Monday will be a symbol of solidarity, Rama said, "As a sign of solidarity with friendly Türkiye, which was with us in a similar disaster that affected Albania, the Albanian government decided to declare national mourning on Monday of the memory of those who lost their lives in the great earthquake tragedy on the Türkiye-Syria border," used the phrase.
