World Bank President David Malpass has announced that he will be leaving his post. Malpass said he shared his intention to step down with the World Bank Board of Directors. “I am proud of what we have accomplished during my tenure,” he said.

World Bank President David Malpass has announced that he will step down from his post by the end of June. “I have shared with the World Bank Group Board of Directors my intention to step down by the end of the World Bank's fiscal year,” Malpass said in a statement.

Malpass said it was a great honor and privilege to serve as President of the World Bank Group: “Reducing poverty, increasing economic growth, and reducing poverty in all areas of human development, including education, health, social protection, employment, gender, access to clean water and electricity. We've worked hard together to reduce the debt burden and improve living standards. I am proud of what we have accomplished during my tenure.”
