A 6.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Kamchatka region of Russia's Pacific coast. In the statement made by the Geophysics Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the depth of the earthquake recorded at 06.06 am CET was stated as 99.5. The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 6.6.

DEEP CRACKS OCCURRED IN MANY STRUCTURES

After the severe shaking, there was great panic in the Kamchatka peninsula. Local residents threw themselves into the streets with the earthquake. In the first examinations made by the teams of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, it was determined that no building was destroyed, but deep cracks occurred in many buildings. While the crisis desk was set up in Kamchatka by the government's instructions, humanitarian aid and temporary shelter materials were sent to the region. After the severe earthquake, aftershocks with magnitudes of 4.6, 4.0, 3.7, 3.6 and 4.1 were also recorded.
