300 people evacuated after forest fire in South Korea

A forest fire broke out in Gangneung, South Korea's Gangwon province.

It was stated that the fire could not be intervened from the air due to the wind, while the firefighters continued their work to control the flames.

Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-tae announced that more than 170 hectares of land were burned to ash in the fire.

Expressing that the cause of the fire is being investigated, Kim said that they think that the flames started because a tree fell on electrical cables due to strong winds.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol instructed the authorities to use all resources and evacuate residents quickly to contain the fire.
