Clashes continue in Sudan after the broken ceasefire

According to Anadolu reported, a local doctors' association said on Saturday that the 72-hour ceasefire between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan was broken as the clashes continued.

Hospitals continue to be targeted in the conflict as both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) failed to fulfill their commitments under the cease-fire, said the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors (CCSD).

An Anadolu correspondent on the ground said the fighting had spread to Bahri and Omdurman, cities adjacent to the capital Khartoum, where the current conflict broke out on April 15, the CCSD added, noting that clashes had also taken place around the army headquarters and president palace.

Both sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire. The military claimed that the RSF was pushing more forces into Khartoum.

TURKISH CITIZENS ARE EVACUATED

After the USA, Japan, England, France and China, Türkiye decided to evacuate its citizens from Sudan.

In a written statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said that they will ensure the safe return of Turkish citizens and Embassy personnel in Sudan to their countries.

“As a result of the security assessments, it was decided to ensure the return of our citizens to our country,” the statement said.

Thus, on Sunday, it was decided that they would return to Türkiye via a third country by road.

While the ceasefire was violated in Sudan, the loss of life exceeded 400. Conflicts continue.
