Domestic flights under 2.5 hours are banned in France. According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, domestic flights under 2.5 hours, which have an alternative by train, have been banned in the country.

The ban will be in effect for 3 years. In a written statement, Minister of Transportation Clement Beaune stated that with this decision, flights between Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon and Paris-Orly were banned.

Beaune mentioned that this decision constitutes a fundamental step for the policy of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Stating that this step is a first in the world, the French Minister emphasized that this is in line with the government's policy of encouraging transportation modes that emit less greenhouse gases.
