After Sweden, this time a vile provocation was carried out in Denmark. In Denmark, a group burned the Holy Quran in front of the Iraqi Embassy building. While the Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned the incident, Iraqis living in Denmark flocked to the embassy to protest the scandalous incident.

Islamophobia is increasing day by day in Europe. A new one has been added to the vile provocations against the Quran, the holy book of Islam. The Quran burning, which has been on the agenda in countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands and Finland this year, took place in Denmark this time.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the burning of the Quran and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi Embassy building in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, following Sweden, Ihlas reported.

After the burning of the Quran and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi Embassy building in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, a similar action was carried out in Denmark this time. A group called Danish Patriots burned the Holy Quran in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen and the Iraqi Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the act.

'WE STRONGLY CONDEMN THE ACT OF BURNING THE QURAN'

"We strongly condemn the repeated act of burning the Holy Quran in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen," Iraqi Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmad Sahhaf said in a statement.

Stating that the ministry will follow the developments regarding these abhorrent acts under the name of freedom of expression, Sahhaf said that such acts fuel reactions and put all parties in critical situations. "The Ministry calls on the international community to urgently and responsibly stop such outrageous acts that violate social peace and coexistence around the world," Sahhaf said.

PROTESTS BEGIN

Hundreds of Iraqis marched early in the morning to the Danish Embassy building in the protected Green Zone following the insult to the Quran and the Iraqi flag in Denmark. Supporters of Shiite cleric and Sadrist Group leader Muqtada Sadr tried to enter the Danish Embassy building in the Green Zone, while security forces set up roadblocks on the roads leading to the Green Zone and increased security measures.
